Hello everyone! Thank you for taking the time to visit my new website. I wanted to take a few minutes and tell you a little more about myself and why I started this business. If you read the About Us section of the Home page, you know that I am from New Mexico and started doing massage in 2011. I started my business in Dyersburg in 2019 and I feel so blessed to have a job that I love.
My husband and I have been married for 8 years and we have two amazing kids, ages 3 and 7. I love them all dearly, but they drive me crazy every now and again. I guess that's just what family does. Currently we also have two dogs, a cat, and a parrot. Between the kids and the animals, there is never a dull moment in our house.
If you had asked me five years ago if I thought I would be here, I probably would have laughed at you. But life sometimes takes us places we weren't expecting to go. There was a point in time that I honestly thought I would never leave New Mexico. Now, I've lived in four different states, traveled across the country more times than I care to count, and am living in a town that I didn't even know existed five years ago. I'd be lying if I said that I wouldn't change any of it, but most of it I wouldn't change.
Now, as to why I decided to add a blog to the list of things in my life. There are a couple of pretty simple reasons. 1) I try to post articles about why massage is good for you but sometimes I want to add my two cents on a subject. Sometimes, I feel like an article that I share doesn't give all the information. It might tell you most of what I want you to know about a type of massage or a massage benefit, but not all of it. And let's face it, there is only so much you can put in a Facebook post before people just scroll past. 2) I want to share more about my vision for my business and keep you all updated on that process. I want you all to know what I am up to and how I hope to benefit you all.
As some of you know, I am currently going back to school. My goal with this is to become a licensed Acupuncturist. I want to one day open a holistic health clinic in this area. And when I say "holistic" I mean a truly holist clinic. Somewhere that people can go to not only treat their bodies with things like massage, acupuncture, chiropractic, natural remedies, nutrition, and either personal and/or physical training, but also a place where people can come to have someone pray with them, or talk with a counselor about any issues that they are having. A place that will truly treat the Mind, Body, and Spirit.
Now, I know that this will not happen over night (although some days I wish it would). Right now, I'm still working on just the pre-requisites to get into Acupuncture School. Once I finish those, I'll have 3-4 years of Acupuncture School to complete before I can even take the tests to get licensed. That's a long time. And at fist, I thought that going back to school would be easy. I mean, last time I was in school it wasn't that hard, and I kind of enjoyed it. But that was also back before I had kids, a husband, and a business to run. Now I'm realizing that I might have to take things a little slower than I originally planned.
But I hope that you will all join me on this journey. I look forward to telling you all about everything that I learn, everything that I know, and just my thoughts on various things that come up. I plan on making a new post every Monday so stay tuned and let me know what you think in the comments. Remember to drink your water and stretch!
Enjoyed your blog Ashley- miss seeing you!!
